Thursday Thirteen

Dear Friends,

My pet human has begun to hear from her friends and loved ones who were evacuated. They are being let back into their neighborhoods and homes. I am very happy and grateful to know their homes are still standing.

The air quality is horrible. My pet human wants me to stay in, but I sneaked out for a little while and came back with ashes all over my coat. So she had to brush me off.

My pet human said: "Skittles, this is all so bad, but you know, I just have to turn off the TV. Sometimes it's too much."

Personally I was very touched by one homeowner interviewed on CNN. He described how the Modjeska Fire Department, although not able to save his garage, did in fact save his house. He choked up and almost cried as he told everyone the Modjeska FD is ALL VOLUNTEER. They don't get paid one penny at all to risk their lives to save homes.

My pet human says a lot of rural fire departments are volunteer.

WOW! I'm am stunned and awed by their sacrifices.

After today I will go back to posting about yoga and such. But today my Thursday Thirteen is about the fires.

Thirteen Images From The Wildfires.

p.s. all of the images from the fires have been from the local newspapers. I think our local photographers do just as well as the CNN guys! If not better!

wow, awsome pictures. Our hearts are just sick over everything that everyone has lost. The volunteer firemen are just so awsome.

We are glad that you are safe, and we are glad that your family and friends are safe too.

Stay inside Skittles, we don't want you to get a lungful of those awful ashes.

Thems amazing pictures. I am super glad to hear you and your fambly are safe.

My mum says she hates the thought of fire. It must be very scary for everybody. You stay in the house, where they know where to find you.

I hope lots of people gives those volunteer firepeople nice treats when they have finished.

stay inside! the air is still horrible. I've been sneezing - we don't have a/c so sometimes we have to open the windows even though we don't want to. we live just south of Los Angeles so we're about 30 miles from the nearest fire. our people have friends in all the fire areas, but thankfully everyone is okay. we've been purring lots for all the people and the animals to stay safe.

Skittles!!!
I'm sure that you look beautiful even with the ashes. Be careful though, because smoke follows beauty, so you'd better stay inside after all just to be safe. And come over for snuggles quick. I miss you!!!
