The Hand Report

Thank you to all who inquired about my pet human's hand. Here's the report.

She went to the neurologist Saturday morning. I asked her what Dr. Tim said.

WW: "It's a bruise on the ulnar nerve that runs through the elbow. It was amazing, he knew even where my back was hurting too. He said it should heal in about 6 weeks to 3 months."

STH: "Ummmm, the ulnar nerve? Isn't that usually referred to by humans as the funny bone? You bruised your funny bone? How embarrassing is that?

WW: "It's not embarrassing or funny either! Besides, Dr. Tim was concerned that my right hand showed considerable weakness, especially for being my dominant hand. I'm supposed to pay close attention to that in the coming weeks."

STH: "You've bruised your funny bone??! I've got the whole cat blogosphere worried and praying for you! Can't you make it more dramatic? I can't tell my fellow kitties this! I want something serious!"

WW: Well, Dr. Tim used the word neuropathy. It's Latin. Does that sound serious enough for you?

STH: "Oh, I suppose."

So, mostly the numbness is an annoyance right now. I have a little trouble with strength in my hand, and it makes gardening a bit challenging. But, according to Dr. Tim, the numbness will go away.

Many thanks to all the kitties for their prayers! The prayers were answered.

Luv,
WW

We're glad it is something that will get better on it's own. Mum says funny bone is a silly name for it, because if you bang it, it is anything but funny.

Bruised funny bone or funny nerve. Hope the swelling goes away quickly and that normal function returns.

My kitties were happy to hear the good news. Copper the dog gave an approving bark, too.
