Happy Birthday to my Pet Human!!

Today is my pet human's birthday!! She is REALLY old!!! Older than Methuselah! Man, she has gray hair, wrinkles, reading glasses.....oh, ummmmm, I mean she is really great looking for her age.

hehehehehehehe!

She got some really great birthday cards with cute tabby cats on them! (None as cute as me!)
This guy has frosting dripping down his white bib.....how embarrassing! I would never be that messy!
This tabby is doing the happy dance.
I thought my pet human would like me to do the happy dance for her. I did pretty good, don't you think?
Guess what I gave her for a present? Two really big moths from the garden. I sneaked them in last night while she was asleep.
I know how much she likes flying insects in the house. Mmmmmm, they look tasty!
Happy birthday, dear pet human. Now, please feed me.

Yoga Class

Good Morning, all my fellow yoga practicioners! Welcome back to yoga class.

I am also very happy to announce that this is my 300th post!I am in need of some serious meditation time! The weather has been very hot, and I am shedding quickly, which means I'm kind of itchy! I need to relax and contemplate peace and joy! I need to follow my inner bliss.
Grab a mat. These are really cool with graphics.

Breathe in deeply.......hold, hold, hold, exhale slowly

Oh, I feel 100% now!!!!

Let's enjoy the abundance of life.
First, sea scallops brochettes with orange-saffron aioli

Truly decadent

Lobster Macaroni and Cheese

Oh!!!

Ham for Miles

And, for dessert.........

Strawberry shortcake with vanilla-orange syrup

I promote world peace through inner harmony!

Heat Wave Monday

(sorry! no alliteration today)

It's hot! 90 degrees! My fur is falling out and thank goodness my pet human got her acrylic nails back to scratch me. Fur everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It looks cooler over there.
Yes, a nice shady spot.
My pet human went for a walk on Shelter Island. She found Mr. and Mrs. Mallard enjoying themselves under a water pipe. It's hard to see, but the pipe is leaking, and Mr. and Mrs. Mallard are sitting under the dripping cold water.
Whew!

Sunday Honors

I'm blushing!

I have been added to many blogrolls in the cat blogosphere, but today I discovered a HUMAN BEING added me to his blogroll. It was none other than the world famous Lutheran Surrealist!!!! AKA Kirby Olson. And the link to my site is listed with really famous human blogs: Ann Althouse and Ron Silliman.

I could just faint!

My pet human likes his poetry. So I have been posting some of his poems for poetry month. Here is another:

No Question

I confess
ambivalence
towards roses,
I prefer
bean blossoms
and Brown Susan,
I hold
ordinary days
above holidays:

The Marvelous
is always in
The Crucifix.

Name That Yoga Pose!!

Good morning everyone!!!

Today my pet human and I went for a garden walk.
Aaaaaa, how wonderful the flowers smell! I was so inspired, I felt like inventing some new yoga poses. The brick was warm, and the sun and shade made for a lovely contrast against my tabby stripes!

I need help naming the new poses.

ManCat MonDay

It's such a beautiful morning. My pet human and I went for a garden walk. First we checked out the front patio and yard.
I have lots of pansies to eat, ummmmm I mean smell. (Skittles, those are Johnny Jump Ups! Silly tabby!)
Then we went to the back yard. We went up the steps and look what we saw under the calla lilies..........

It's Mr. Tuxie again. I'm sort of embarrassed to admit this, but Mr. Tuxie growled and then charged me. He wasn't even afraid of my pet human. He ran right by her. I got really scared, and ran away back into the house. My pet human chased after him until he left.

I think this is one ManCat suitor I can do without.

Formerly Feral & Flower Friday

As a "formerly feral" sometimes I sit at the door and ponder about my early life as an "outdoor" kitty. I like having a home and family a lot. Being wild wasn't always all that fun.

Flowers from my garden for Flower Friday.

And a poem for Poetry Month:

Decades

I know what it is
to eat a bean
with a plastic spoon
before the dim light,

and to fit together
such small objects,

that is, to join them

with glue.

I know what it is
to watch an eyelid
lift/close & close,
to watch a person
quiver open

as during nervous
prayer with you.

Wordy Wednesday

A poem for Poetry Month and Wordy Wednesday

Rustic Face On A Park Bench

A little laughter jumps into air like rolled dice,
or sometimes a thimble of laughter
comes crawling through the Greek dawn.

Lions yawp, cowboys ride buffaloes,
buildings howl memories-
Halloween......

But at last
into this rushing kick of world,
a noon transparency enters. Disguised
as a detective, He puts His finger on your shirt button,
marking you for Heaven.

Yoga Class!!!

Yeah! It's time for yoga again. The weather is warming up, and I feel like stretching again.

Welcome to my backyard. We will have a simple class today with some beginner moves, since some of my more recent followers don't know about my yoga classes.

Grab a mat.

Here we go.

Inhale deeply....hold.....hold....hold....exhale through your nose. Feel the feline spirit within you.....

Now, follow along. Do only what you can. Don't over do any position.

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh! I feel so relaxed and peaceful. I truly enjoy sharing these moments with my friends on the cat blogosphere.

Better yet!!!!! It's time to party! Refreshments for everyone!

Grilled turkey

Seared Ahi Tuna (rare!)

Steamed lobster, clams and sausage

Ham for Miles!! Of course! Maybe Miles will share his ham with Bill.

And for dessert: TEMPTATIONS!

This was an excellent yoga class. Thank you all for joining me.

Thanks also go to Zoolatry for my brand new Ohm picture!!!

A poem for poetry month

Trash Night

I walk out with the garbage
under the stars. Wife
usually has to remind me
but tonight I remembered,
brief silence before I die.
I wonder why we've received no bill
from the collection co. in Walton for 6 months.

My daughter wants to be held
when I come back in.
I pick her up & say,"Love you."
She says, "Why, Daddy, why?"
At age 3 there is still a belief
that there are answers to such things.

I love her because I love her,
because she is Lola, because
when she says why daddy why
my heart is an accordion in love w/polka
and we do the hokey pokey
in two step & in three
while Tristan looks out the corner
of his eye at us & is happy, but why?

Morocco Monday

My pet human finally got around to editing her pictures from Morocco. Silly girl! She says digital cameras are great to take on trips, because you can take as many photos as you like and delete the bad ones later.

Hahahahahaha...........so she was shocked to find she had taken 936 photos! Hahahahaha!!!

Here are the last of the feline photos from Morocco. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present to you the following Moroccan kitties:

Biker Dudes
Marrakech Market Momma
And her babies.....
Sand Castle Kitty
Fountain Kitty or Thirsty Kitty????
And, I wasn't sure if this was the Minister of Travel and Tourism, guarding a "you are here" sign, or the Marlboro Man of Morocco.
It's been fun visiting Morocco!

Here is a poem for poetry month:

Blue Light

For thirty years I have wanted to describe
the blue light on the stones outside the church window
after evening Confirmation class,
and now that the window is gone
it is somehow still my church's window
and I would still like to describe the dove flying in the blue light
above the stones that I saw there
outside the window
thirty years ago.
